About
Hey there! I'm Kathleen, a licensed marriage and family therapist in the state of California and National Board Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist.
My Approach
I am a transpersonal, non hierarchical, relational therapist. So what does that mean?! I want to cultivate an authentic relationship with my clients, acknowledge power dynamics and privilege, and engage the spiritual aspects of existence to find healing, meaning and build resilience. Some modalities I like to use are psychosynthesis (aka parts work), DBT, CBT, hypnotherapy, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness. I tailor the treatment to the needs and goals of each client, seeking to make the relationship collaborative. |

My Experience
Before becoming a therapist I worked in tech, finding myself burnt out and meeting many closed doors I decided to seek out something different. Through meaningful and serendipitous events I found myself in graduate school for counseling psychology and have happily followed this path, with a bit of trail blazing along the way.
During my traineeship I worked with elementary aged children in a school setting, post graduate school I continued to work with kids in school and added in some individual and couples work with adults in a clinical setting.
I worked with DreamPower horsemanship for a year provided equine and animal assisted therapy as well as ecotherapy. My pug Odin is a trained therapy dog who is currently on leave.
For the last several years I have focused my work on individual adults primarily facing anxiety, depression, grief, dating, life transitions and low self worth.
